Tibetan Energy Medicine - Energy Medicine

Energy is more than the current buzzword in the alternative medicine community. Increasingly, acupuncture meridians, electromagnetic fields, colors and energy patterning are becoming the research subjects of conventional medical science as well. The full integration of mind, body and spirit in medicine is the ultimate result we are all working toward.

Implementing energy modalities along with lifestyle and environmental change including food, herbs, bodywork, (as well as many other areas) and incorporating spiritual and psychological direction brings individuals to balance.

Tibetan Energy Medicine incorporates many modalities including Naturopathy, Herbology, Massage, Energy and Light work, Hypnotherapy, Psychological and Spiritual Counseling, Yoga and Meditation (see Healing Services). This is consistent with the development of Tibetan Buddhism over the centuries.

Concepts of healing held a profound importance in the daily lives and spiritual work of the early Buddhist monks, says Raul Birnbaum in The Healing Buddha (1989, Shambhala Publications). The ancient texts of the Pali Canon discussed healing from three points of view, he says: “1) the cure of disease through healing agents (herbs and foods) surgery and other means; 2) spiritual causes and cures of diseases; and 3) the healing process as a metaphor for spiritual growth…”

Many current alternative modalities, such as Reiki, Polarity Therapy, Tibetan Acupressure, Radionics and color therapies, find their origins in the ancient systems. All deal with finding balance in the energetic fields of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. Much of this work originated in early India and Tibet.

One way to assess the condition of the physical and emotional fields is through a new practice known as Medical Intuition. While this is relatively new in public and professional use, the ability to intuitively sense what is going on within another’s body is not new at all.

Medical Intuition traces the nature and roots of conditions that have manifested themselves in physical discomfort and disease within a client's unique energy field. This work is particularly helpful for providing information regarding conditions that may have eluded traditional methods of diagnosis. Rather than a healing modality, it is a tool of supplementary insight to give an accurate portrait of what is going on in a client's body. The body can offer information regarding the roots and influences of the present condition, what it wants and does not want, and a physical/emotional/spiritual portrait of what is currently going on.

The role of a Medical Intuitive is to pay attention to the body without censoring, questioning, analyzing or bringing any preconceived frames of reference. The practitioner does not diagnose or offer healing recommendations. He or she may receive requests and information regarding certain healing modalities from the client's body and relay this information, uncensored to the client. The client may choose to bring the body's information to his or her healing team. Some Medical Intuitives are also trained in other healing modalities and may combine the information gained from a Medical Intuitive Body Scan with other healing modalities they provide.
